Sandy Harbor Terminal Ry
Hilltop Stores
The date on the building shows that this is an old neighborhood and the vehicles indicate the time period of this shot, at its earliest, is the mid 1950s. Check out the understated details that breathe life into this scene. There’s an apartment for rent above the paint store. The unused sign bracket above the dry cleaner hints at a previous business. Rolled up awnings with hand cranks provide further evidence of a bygone era.
These photos are what I affectionately refer to as my Beauty Shots of the Sandy Harbor Terminal Railway. In 2005, I created the Sandy Harbor as a project layout for Classic Toy Trains magazine. She existed in my photography studio for over 10 years. In 2016, I sold the layout and moved her across the country to Maine.
